Recent Donations & Activities


During October 2017
- A number of members brought donations for the Food Bank to our monthly meeting
- We agreed to make a substantial donation towards the cost of refurbishing the War Memorial at the top of Yorkersgate
- We took a party from Ryedale Special Families on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to Whitby and back, feeding and entertaining them on the way
- We awarded prizes to pupils at both Norton College and Malton School who won their classes in the Lions Peace Poster Competition
- Malton School very narrowly pipped Norton College to the post in our bake off when both schools produced a cake to mark 100 years of Lions Clubs International
- A small donation was made to Malton Primary School to help cover the costs of extra-curricula activites
- Donations were made to Lions projects relating to measles prevention and restoring peoples sight. Each donation attracted match funding for measles from the Bill Gates Foundation and for the sight project from the UK Government
- We launched our Community Trust Fund which aims to make regular donations to good causes locally. More details in the panel above
- We paid a visit to Filey Lions for their Club Meeting
- We hosted the Lions’ Big Party for 400 people entertained over two consecutive events in the Milton Rooms, celebrating 100 years of Lions Clubs International (more info in Latest News above)
- We donated funds to assist a local lady purchase a small amount of carpet for her home
- We attended a meeting of local Lions Clubs in Whitby
